The Lihat Ini DVD Series

The Lithat Ini series of eleven individual dvds has been produced by the Indonesian Language Centre to assist teachers of Indonesian language.

The dvds are designed as a flexible learning resouce, allowing the teacher to use the dvd's in the design and delivery of their individual teaching programs. The flexibility and interactivity provided by the dvds allows them to be used for students at all levels of language proficiency.

Video Trailers

A video trailer is provided for each Lihat Ini title. These provide a sample of what is contained in each of the dvds.

An Indonesian Language Learning Resource

The core of each Lihat Ini dvd is a 10 to 20 minute documentary video encompassing some aspect of Indonesian life and culture.

Within the video track there is a choice of Indonesian or English subtitles with the option of an Indonesian language voice over.

Each dvd includes a slideshow derived from the documentary. There is a choice of Indonesian-English, English-Indonesian or Indonesian-Indonesian subtitles. The option of Indonesian language voice over is provided.

A full transcript of the narration is included. Each sentence is numbered. An English version, an Indonesian version and an English Indonesian version are provided. These are accessed in the rom section of the dvd. Access these pdf documents by inserting the dvd into a computer dvd You may print and use these documents within your classroom.

To fully realise the potential of the Lihat Ini series requires the use of the remote control of the classroom dvd player. The series is more than just an Indonesian language video series. It is a very flexible, interactive tool to assist teachers in facilitating their students’ learning and enjoyment of the Indonesian language. Importantly they provide a means for the students to gain a realistic insight into the life and language of the Indonesian people.

The philosophy underlying the development of the Lihat Ini series is one in which it is contended that language is best learnt in the context of the culture of which it is an integral component.

Culture is taken to be the way in which individuals behave and interact with each other and their environment. Language is a manifestation of these behavioural and cognitive processes.
